Habitat creation on the Thames

Rennie Campbell

In another project for Land & Water we filmed their team in action dredging at the CEMEX aggregate facility on the Thames in Dagenham.

The dredged materials were then transported by barge downstream to the Land & Water handling facility at Rainham, before transfer to their 125ha site in Rainham Marshes.

This is a fantastic project: 6,000,000 tonnes of construction spoil from all over London will be barged down the Thames, turning wasteland into London's largest ever habitat creation scheme, with each 1,200 tonne barge shipment saving 66 articulated lorry movements in and out of London.
